Supplier Presentation Theater Session – A newly researched candidate probiotic species for metabolic health: Akkermansia massiliensis
Information
Akkermansia massiliensis sp. nov. [new species] has emerged as the second most prevalent Akkermansia bacterial species in the human gut. It harbors unique properties compared to the well-studied Akkermansia muciniphila. IFF Health Sciences' novel Akkermansia massiliensis strain had a significant impact on body weight, total fat weight, resistin hormone, and insulin levels in a C57BL/6J mouse model (the most widely used genetically inbred mouse strain in studies.) Based on phenotypic features and phylogenetic position, it is proposed that this novel strain is a promising ingredient in the support of metabolic health.
