As of 2022, the National Bioengineered Food Disclosure Law final rule went into effect.   
 
Among several exclusions secured by biotech interests, the disclosure of bioengineered foods is only required if GMO DNA is detectable in the product. However, a proliferation of products and ingredients in today’s market appear to be derived from genetically modified components — yet the disclosure is murky at best.
