Ursolic acid, also known as 3-β-hydroxy-ursolic-12-ene-28-carboxylic acid, is a pentacyclic triterpenoid first discovered in the waxy substance of apple peels in 1920. Ursolic acid is also found in many other plants, such as loquat leaves, rosemary, and thyme. It possesses whitening, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory properties and is widely used in various skincare products, particularly those for whitening and dark spot reduction
