– BNR17® brings body-fat reduction research together with healthy-aging applications
AceBiome (CEO Myeong Hee Kim), a microbiome-focused health and nutrition company, will participate in SupplySide Global 2026 as the Official Weight Management Category Sponsor, highlighting its proprietary probiotic strain, Lactobacillus gasseri BNR17®. The Expo Hall runs October 28–30 at Mandalay Bay, Las Vegas, with AceBiome at Booth 4881.
Originally isolated from human breast milk, BNR17 is recognized by Korea’s Ministry of Food and Drug Safety for body-fat reduction functionality. At SupplySide Global, AceBiome will present BNR17 as a research-driven platform spanning body-fat management, gut health and emerging healthy-aging applications.
In a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial of 90 adults with BMI of 25–35 kg/m², participants receiving 1 × 10¹⁰ CFU/day of BNR17 for 12 weeks showed a significant reduction in visceral adipose tissue versus placebo, with a between-group difference of 21.6 cm². The study was published in the Journal of Medicinal Food.
A 2026 pilot study in 46 adults aged 65–74 evaluated the same daily dose for eight weeks. Researchers observed significant improvements from baseline in Short Physical Performance Battery scores, lean-body-mass measures, soft lean mass and leg muscle mass, alongside reductions in body fat and visceral fat area. These early findings suggest potential applications in muscle health and healthy aging, although larger randomized, placebo-controlled studies are needed.
“Weight management is becoming a more multidimensional conversation encompassing metabolic health, body composition and healthy aging,” said Myeong Hee Kim, CEO of AceBiome. “SupplySide Global gives us an important opportunity to share BNR17 research with partners developing the next generation of nutrition products.”
AceBiome will also showcase functional ingredients for women’s health, joint and bone health, and beauty-from-within applications.
