Medical use
Blood volume expansion: Dextran 60, as a medium molecular weight dextran, is used to expand blood volume, maintain blood pressure, and is suitable for emergency situations such as acute blood loss and shock. Its molecular weight is relatively large (54000-66000) and its action time is relatively long (about 6 hours), making it suitable for situations such as trauma and surgery that require rapid blood volume supplementation.
Treatment of iron deficiency anemia: Iron dextran preparations (such as iron dextran dispersible tablets) are used to supplement iron elements and improve hemoglobin levels. It needs to be used in combination with vitamin C to improve absorption rate.
food industry
Sweetener and antioxidant: Dextrose 60 can be used as a food additive to improve taste or extend shelf life.
